‘Amazing Ireland’: a painting exhibition by artist Elena Albrekht

Clare Arts Office, in collaboration with Cultúrlann Sweeney Gallery, presents ‘Amazing Ireland’ – an intriguing art exhibition by artist Elena Albrekht.
Elena was born in April 1965 in the city of Makeyevka, Donetsk region, in Ukraine. In 1978 she entered the art school of Donetsk and graduated in 1984. Elena then graduated from the Kharkov Art and Industrial institute in 1990.
Elena has participated in numerous exhibitions in Donetsk, Khartsyzsk, Gorlovka, Makeyevka, Kiev, Kharkov and Dnepropetrovsk. She is a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine since 2014 and is also a member of Union of Artists of Donetsk since 2019.
Elena’s work showcases still life, landscapes, portraits, creative compositions, and various other illustrations. She uses many techniques including oil, watercolour, gouache, acrylic, graphics, ink pen, charcoal, sanguine, pencil and pastel.
Elena’s illustrations have been published in many books to date including children’s books, classical, world, modern literature, poetry and prose.
Elena moved to Ireland in 2022 and in 2023 she had a solo exhibition in Cultúrlann Sweeney Library.
Elena’s work is on show in many private collections in Ukraine, Russia, Ireland, Poland, Greece and Israel, and also in museums in Donetsk, Makeyevka and Kursk.
In 2021, Elena was awarded a commemorative medal for the 300th anniversary of her hometown of Makeyevka for the promotion and development of art in the country.
This free exhibition runs until 9th February, 2024 (inclusive), and everyone is welcome.
